District Reaches Tentative Agreement with Teachers BOUSD and the Brea Olinda Teachers Association (BOTA) have reached a tentative agreement on furlough days and other contract terms that will help bridge a potential ongoing annual deficit projected for next year of approximately $4.9 million.  The agreement could produce over $1.2 million in savings to the District over the next year and a half.  The District Board of Education meets on Monday, March 8, to ratify this agreement, with BOTA scheduled to ratify on Thursday, March 11.  Click HERE to view the Press Release in its entirety.

Balancing 2010-11 District Budget -- On Monday, February 22, 2010, the Board of Education reviewed a draft list of budget reductions that could be implemented in the 2010-11 school year to resolve a projected deficit of $3.5 million.  Like other California school districts, BOUSD is faced  with potentially a significant budget deficit due to ongoing cuts in State funding.  Click HERE to view PowerPoint presentation -- "Balancing 2010-11 District Budget."   Click HERE to view the Press Release.

Four open forum meetings were held to allow parents, staff and the community to hear more about the cuts being proposed and to discuss other options being investigated.  Parent/Community meetings were held on:

•   Tuesday, March 2 --  District Office:  7:30 AM and 10:00 AM          
•   Tuesday, March 2 -- BOHS Library:  7:00 PM
•   Wednesday, March 3 -- Arovista Cafeteria:  5:30 PM

B.E.S.T. Meet Postponed Again --Due to the chance of rain Friday afternoon and Saturday, the B.E.S.T. Meet  has, once again, been cancelled.  The new rain date for the track meet is Saturday, March 20th.
