About Us

Overview of Health Services

Health Services at BOUSD is staffed by one RN with a School Nurse Service Credential and eight part-time health office assistants.  Our goal is to keep your children as healthy and safe as possible.

No medications are allowed at school without proper documentation.

Rescue inhalers for students with asthma and epi-pens may be carried by students if their physician has filled out the medication form and approves the student to carry it.

Medical forms are available at school offices, or can be printed here:

If your child is ill, he/she must be fever free under 100 degrees (without the use of fever-reducing medication) for 24 hours before returning to school.

State mandated screenings are as follows:

  • Vision Screening in Kindergarten, 3rd, 6th, and 10th grade
  • Hearing Screenings are done in Kindergarten, 2nd, 5th, 8th, and 10th grade
  • Scoliosis Screening is done for 7th grade girls and 8th grade boys

Screening schedules for 2010-11 school year will be posted on the website in June.
