BOUSD is committed to educating the whole child and supporting students to thrive in school and in life. We are currently engaged in the needs assessment process and collecting student and school-wide climate data to inform strengths and areas of need for students, staff, and parents/guardians. We believe that students' experiences K-12 provides an important foundation for future success.
California Healthy Kids Survey (CHKS) Winter 2018 Administration
The California Department of Education sponsors the California Healthy Kids Survey (CHKS) that will help BOUSD and community health agencies promote better health among our youth. The survey gathers anonymous student information on developmental supports provided to youth; school connectedness and barriers to learning; school safety; and health-related concerns such as physical activity and nutritional habits; alcohol, tobacco and other drug use; and risk of depression.The California Healthy Kids Survey is voluntary.
Your child is not required to take the survey. Students who participate only have to answer the questions they want to answer and they may stop taking it at any time. It is Anonymous. No names will be recorded or attached to the survey forms or data. The results will be made available only under strict confidentiality controls. The survey was administered in late January or early February 2018. It is expected that the assessment will take approximately 50 minutes.
