The Brea Olinda Unified School District Board of Education is in the process of conducting an executive search for the District's next superintendent. At the February 24 Board of Education Meeting, Leadership Associates, an executive search firm, was selected to advise the Board in this important process.
Leadership Associates, founded in 1996, has assisted school boards in their selection of superintendents in more than 500 California school districts and organizations. Since that time they have come to understand that the recruitment and selection of highly-quality leaders goes hand-in-hand with services that cultivate and support the leadership development of individuals and governance teams.  Leadership Associates is a dedicated team of passionate individuals with exceptional success as superintendents and other educational leadership roles including oversight and guidance of exemplary educational governance teams.

 February 4 District receives proposals
 February 24 Proposal presentations/Board selects firm
 March 10 Board Meeting: Approval of search firms and agreement
 March 11 Search firm receives purchase order to proceed
 March 17 Special Board Meeting at 5:30 p.m.: Board determines characteristics, skills & qualities desired in new superintendent; publicly announces timeline and procedures
 March 21-31 Online survey
 March 29-31 Consultants confer with staff and community designated by the Board to receive input.
 April Consultants identify potential candidates; Development and posting of recruitment materials and position description
 April 11 & 18 Advertising and active recruitment; Ad appears in EdCal (two consecutive publications)
 April 29 Deadline for applications at 5:00 p.m.
 May 1-6 Consultants complete comprehensive reference and background checks on applicants
 May 12 Special Board Meeting at 5:30 p.m.: Board confers with consultants, reviews all applications and selects candidates to be interviewed (closed session) 
 May 21 Special Board Meeting: Board interviews candidates; selects finalist(s) (closed session; all-day meeting)
 Week of May 23 Board completes the validation process of the leading candidate and makes final determination
 June 9 Board approves superintendent contract at regularly scheduled board meeting
 July 1 New superintendent begins (as mutually agreed)
