BOUSD Student Account

Brea Olinda Unified School District (BOUSD) recognizes that technology and Internet resources offer a wide variety of educational opportunities and tools that can enhance learning.  Leveraging these digital tools helps inspire the 4C’s of Creativity, Communication, Collaboration and Critical Thinking.   BOUSD utilizes a variety of tools including Google Suite for Education to assist in collaborative sharing of resources by teachers and students.  Digital tools like Google Suite for Education help support the development of student skills needed for the 21st Century, and the goals found in the ISTE NETS Standards for students (https://www.iste.org/standards/for-students).

All students will be assigned a unique @mybousd.us login account for the purpose of accessing school computing devices, online instructional material and software the school uses for instructional purposes.  This account allows students to take advantage of a variety of digital resources including Google tools in an ad-free environment.  This account will be considered the student’s official school login account until the student is no longer enrolled in Brea Olinda Unified School District.

Why Google For Education?

The suite of tools provided through Google for Education allow teachers and students to redefine teaching and learning opportunities.  Each app is powerful, yet simple to use and allows students to create content beyond traditional word processing.  For example, students can incorporate multimedia content to add depth and context to assignments, while elicit real-time feedback from teachers and fellow students.  Other examples of student use include online showcasing of class projects, and building an electronic portfolio of school learning experiences.

Google For Education Features

Google for Education offers a set of tools and services that are entirely online and are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to Brea Olinda students from any Internet-connected device.  The following services are available to each student and hosted by Google as part of BOUSD’s use of Google for Education:

• Docs/Sheets/Slides - students have access to a word processing, spreadsheet, drawing, and presentation program for content creation.
• Drive - students will be able to store their assignments and build a digital portfolio of their work in Google Drive throughout their tenure at BOUSD.
• Calendar - students can access an individual calendar in order to organize schedules, daily activities, and assignments.
• Email (limited) - students in grades 3 through 12 can access a District email account as a way to communicate and collaborate with other BOUSD students, teachers and staff.  Students will not be able to send or receive emails from accounts outside BOUSD.
• Classroom - a blended learning platform that allows teachers to create, distribute and grade assignments.
