Superintendent's Message

Dear BOUSD Families,

Welcome to the 2025-26 school year! We are excited to begin another incredible year of learning, growth, and opportunity with you and your students. Whether your child is just starting their educational journey in preschool, TK, or Kindergarten, or entering their final year as a BOHS Wildcat, we are honored to partner with you in creating a school experience that is safe, engaging, and academically enriching.

As a District committed to excellence, we take great pride in the academic success of our students. Last year, our schools continued to demonstrate high levels of achievement, and our graduates earned over $3.3 million in scholarships and grants, a testament to the strength of our academic programs and the dedication of our educators and families.

We also celebrated the opening of Wellness Spaces across several campuses, completed permanent perimeter fencing at all school sites to strengthen campus security, and began planning for future facility improvements thanks to the successful passage of Measure H. Together, these efforts reflect our belief that academic success flourishes in safe, supportive, and inspiring learning environments.

This year, we will emphasize: Communication, Collaboration, and Connection. We know that when families and schools work together, students excel academically and thrive personally.

  • Communication ensures that families have the information they need to support learning at home, from homework expectations to updates on academic progress. We are committed to open, timely communication through school events, digital platforms, and regular updates via ParentSquare.

  • Collaboration between educators, families, and the community strengthens our ability to deliver rigorous academics, innovative programs, and personalized support so that every student can reach their highest potential.

  • Connection builds the relationships that inspire students to engage fully in their education. When students feel they belong, they are more motivated to attend regularly, participate actively, and strive for academic excellence.

Together, these priorities create the foundation for strong academic achievement across BOUSD.

As you plan for the upcoming year, I encourage you to set ambitious goals for your child(ren), including regular school attendance and having them actively participate in all the opportunities that come their way. By being present in the classroom, students open themselves up to a world of knowledge, engage in meaningful discussions, and build strong relationships with peers, teachers, and staff.

We look forward to seeing all our amazing students in the classroom on Thursday, August 14. I am confident that 2025–26 will be a year of significant growth and achievement for our students and community.

Sincerely,

Brinda C. Leon
