Accessibility
Our Goal
The Brea Olinda Unified School District (BOUSD) works to ensure that website content is accessible to individuals with disabilities. We are committed to making good faith efforts district-wide in complying with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 at the AA level. This important goal helps us to deliver accurate, timely, informative, and accessible content to as many users as possible.
Website Content Accessibility Guidelines
These important guidelines lay out a set of standards website content managers can follow to provide more accessible webpages.
The WCAG 2.0 guidelines make the website experience more user-friendly and accessible to users with disabilities including blindness, low vision, deafness and hearing loss, learning disabilities, cognitive limitations, limited movement, speech disabilities, photo sensitivity, and combinations of these.
Some of the areas that our staff focuses on are page titles and headers, images with alternative text, appropriate headings, text and font sizes, closed captioning on videos, descriptive hyperlinks, avoiding moving and flashing content, and more.
We work closely with our website hosting service to ensure that our website templates are compliant. BOUSD has contracted with Siteimprove to provide a robust set of tools for managing website content and our district uses the widely accepted Web Accessibility Evaluation (WAVE) tool by WebAIM.
Website Accessibility Inquires
We are constantly working to improve our webpages. Please let us know if we have missed opportunities to create more accessible content. If you have difficulty accessing information on our websites please contact the Public & Media Relations Specialist at 714-990-7511.
