Hi I'm Brenda Leon the proud superintendent of the Brea Olinda Unified School District Home to 10 award-winning schools I'm honored to work alongside our talented Educators staff and administrators who care not only for the academic success of your child but also for their social and emotional well-being our district has a rich history of excellence and we are committed to maintaining and building upon our legacy we're always striving to meet the ever-changing needs of our students and families whether your child is just beginning their educational Journey or preparing to graduate we are dedicated to helping them Reach full potential our mission is to develop our students to become local and Global influencers through providing Dynamic learning experiences where Innovation engagement courage inclusion and inspiration are valued now let's take a look at what sets us apart from other school district start by exploring or Spanish dual-language Immersion program these students have the opportunity to develop fluency in both English and Spanish languages over the course of seven years students will develop increase cognitive and academic achievement through the immersion process academic content in all areas and have the wonderful opportunity to also learn Spanish through the Arts and Music it also aligns with our Spanish World language courses offered at Brea Junior High and Brea Olinda High School throughout our district we offer the advancement via individual determination program or Avid that prepare students for College and Career Readiness and success students from kindergarten through 12th grade participate in activities that incorporate writing and Corey collaboration organization and reading to support their academic growth students to participate in Avatar well prepared for their post high school studies Rio Linda Unified School District is home to a robust c2e program which recently earned a golden Bell award are elementary schools provide opportunities for students to gain early exposure and experience ants and career areas in which they may have an interest or want to pursue Laurel Elementary Magnet School of innovation and career exploration partners with local business mentors to inspire students to learn new skills and explore ways to apply they're in school learning in the real world environment each classroom is partnered with a local business so that students can learn and explore careers and engage in Hands-On problem-solving with their business partner Falcon Academy of Science and Technology provides the opportunity for students in grades K through 6 to learn the fundamentals of computer coding as part of their daily curriculum through the use of code to the Future program these lessons are in aging and teaches students a variety of programming languages and Robotics over at Mariposa Elementary our monarchs are using the engineering design process to develop and build competition robots and explore career an engineering and computer science Brea junior high school offers one of the most robust career exploration programs in Orange County students have the opportunity to expand their career awareness Within core courses through thoughtfully curated selection of elective they can explore and refined their emerging interest in areas such as broadcasting computer science construction technology digital media engineering forensic industrial art Medical Careers and Robotics when students transition to high school they can further Define their personal career interest and engage and career preparation within the cell CTE Pathways at Brea Olinda High School and at the how print shop at Brea Canyon High School all high school seem to eat courses are Hands-On project-based for providing students the opportunity to develop real-world skills they will need in their future careers one of our top priorities is Wellness our mission is to address the mental and physical health needs of our K-12 students and their Emily the addition of Wellness spaces on our campuses have provided a place where students can take a break practice self-care through a variety of activities and resources and then return to learning we have school counselors and does on-site and have partnered with outside companies like care Solace and project kinship to provide additional services to our families Art District offers competitive Athletic program and engaging Club opportunities for all students in grades K through 12 in addition we offer Arts and Music during the school enrichment programs after school and a variety of activities and community service opportunities at Brea Olinda Unified School we are proud that many of our former students return to raise their families in Brea so that their children can experience the same outstanding academic and extracurricular programs that shape them
