Merha will succeed Principal Trish Walsh who recently accepted a position with the Orange County Department of Education.
“Ms. Merha possesses a strong focus on students and their individual needs,” said Brea Olinda Unified School District Superintendent Dr. Brad Mason. “She will be an excellent principal who understands the importance of continuous learning and collaborative school environments.”
With 21 years of experience in the field of education, Ms. Merha has served as a teacher in second, fourth and sixth grade, a Response to Instruction and Intervention Teacher on Special Assignment, and an assistant principal. Most recently, Merha served as the assistant principal at McPherson Magnet School in the Orange Unified School District where she helped implement 21st century, student-centered learning environments and assisted in the planning, development and coordination of various instructional programs such as Project Lead the Way and AVID.
Merha has a bachelor’s degree from California State University, Fullerton, and a master’s degree from National University.
Ms. Merha stated, “I am thrilled and honored to have been chosen as the principal of Country Hills Elementary School. Country Hills is an amazing learning community with strong history, relationships and academic success for all students, and my top priority is to continue the great work that has already been accomplished.”
Ms. Merha will assume her position with BOUSD on Monday, September 23, 2019.
