Brea Olinda Unified School District is proud to join communities across the nation in celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month (HHM), September 15 – October 15, 2025. This month is an opportunity to recognize the many contributions, diverse cultures, and rich histories of Hispanic and Latino Americans.
Throughout the month, several schools across the District will host a variety of activities to highlight the importance of Hispanic heritage and foster cultural awareness among students.
- Arovista Elementary kicked off HHM activities with their annual GRITO de Independencia Morning Challenge on Sept. 15. Each classroom has also adopted a Spanish-speaking country to learn about and celebrate. Over the next few weeks, students will engage in activities highlighting the food, music, traditions, and culture of their adopted country. Each Friday during the month, they will also host Viva Viernes events in the quad where students and parents can experience cultural celebrations together as an Allstars community. - Brea Junior High also kicked off the celebration on Sept. 15. Students and staff enjoyed the music, flavors and rich culture of Mexico with live Mariachi and delicious Agua Frescas during lunch. More activities are planned throughout the month such as Loteria at Lunch on Sept. 19 and Folklorico dancers on Oct. 3. View Brea Junior High’s events calendar.
- At Brea Canyon High School, Coyotes will be celebrating HHM all month long with history lessons and activities that celebrate the rich culture of Hispanics and Latinx.
Other schools within the District will incorporate Hispanic Heritage Month activities into their classroom lessons and discussions. More details will be shared by individual campuses.
