Following the adoption of Resolution No. 26-04 during its March 5, 2026 meeting, the Brea Olinda Unified School District (BOUSD) Board of Education announced a vacancy on its five-member governing board in Trustee Area 4.
In accordance with California Education Code sections 5090 et seq. and Board Bylaw 9223, the Board will fill the vacancy through a provisional appointment. The Board discussed this process during its March 5 meeting and determined that the appointed trustee will serve the remainder of the current term, which concludes on December 14, 2026.
Individuals interested in serving on the BOUSD Board of Education must meet the eligibility requirements outlined in California Education Code section 35107.
Applications for the provisional appointment are now being accepted and must be submitted by 4 p.m. on Friday, March 27, 2026.

Applicants who have questions about the role or responsibilities of a board member are encouraged to contact individual Board members prior to the close of the application period.
To further support prospective applicants, the Superintendent will host Informational Meetings for qualified candidates on April 13 at 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. at the BOUSD District Office. These sessions will provide an opportunity to learn more about the responsibilities of serving on the Board and the appointment process.
