E-Bike Safety
Brea Olinda Unified School District has partnered with the City of Brea and the Brea Police Department to offer students and their parents/guardians e-bike safety training classes.
Any BOUSD student who intends to use an e-bike to commute to and from school will be required to:
- Complete an e-bike safety class and
- Obtain a valid e-bike permit to commute and park the e-bike on school grounds
The Brea Police Department has developed an engaging e-bike safety class, offering an interactive opportunity to learn essential safety information.

Thursday, July 17 at 5-7 p.m. at Brea Civic Center Community Rooms A&B
Wednesday, August 6 at 1-3 p.m. at Brea Olinda High School Cafeteria
PERMIT PROCESS FOR E-BIKES
All students must obtain an e-bike permit in order to ride and park your e-bike on campus. All e-bike permits are free.
Complete the following items in order to receive your e-bike permit sticker:
The e-bike permit sticker must be placed on your e-bike in a visible area near the handlebars on your e-bike. Your e-bike sticker permit should not be removed. If your sticker is removed, please report this information to the office for replacement and/or investigation. Please note that e-bike sticker permits are only valid for the school year they were issued. This means the e-bike/bicycle safety course/presentation + permit application must be completed each school year. SAMPLE OF E-BIKE PERMIT (may look different at the time of distribution)

E-BIKE VEHICLE CODES
CA Vehicle Code 407.5 Defines "motorized scooter" as any two-wheeled device with handlebars and a floorboard for standing when riding, or a seat and footrests instead of the floorboard, powered by an electric motor. These scooters are often referred to as electric scooters.
BIKE HELMET SAFETY
All bicycle and electric bicycle riders 17 and under in California must wear a helmet.
