School Climate and Social Emotional Learning Surveys


Brea Olinda Unified School District (BOUSD) remains committed to providing all students with a tailored learning experience that best suits individual needs. To get a snapshot of student experience in BOUSD, your child is being asked to share their insights via the California Healthy Kids Survey (CHKS), sponsored by the California Department of Education (CDE) and the Panorama SEL survey.  The information that our students and families share will play a critical role in identifying student needs, BOUSD LCAP development, and future planning.  For the 2025-2026 school year students in grades 3-12 will participate in the Panorama Student Well-Being Survey.

Survey Content
  • The survey gathers information on social emotional learning competencies, developmental supports provided to youth, school connectedness and barriers to learning; as well as, behaviors such as physical activity and nutritional habits, alcohol, tobacco, and drug use and school safety.
  • The Panorama Surveys are linked below for review. 
 
Survey participation is voluntary and requires parent active consent
  • Students who, with parent consent, agree to participate, do not have to answer any questions they do not want to answer, and may stop taking the survey at any time.
  • Parents were sent information about how to opt-out of the survey via ParentSquare.
  • To confirm or change your consent status, please contact your principal/site administrator.
 
Survey Administration
  • The Panorama Student Well-Being Survey will be administered electronically.
  • Our 2026 survey window will be April 13-30. Please contact your child's school for specific information related to their specific survey administration date. 
 
Survey Information and Results

  • The survey asks students to reflect on their own mindsets and approaches to learning. By measuring student perceptions, the Panorama Student Survey gathers feedback from students about their classroom experience on topics such as Growth Mindset, Self-Management, Social Awareness, Emotion Regulation, Positive Feelings, Challenging Feelings, Supportive Relationships.

  • Panorama survey results are compiled at the student, school, and district level. The results from the Panorama SEL survey are compiled into student, school, and district level reports. To view your student's report following survey administration please contact your student's school counselor.
