Three outstanding middle school students from Orange County made history at the California National Civics Bee Competition, with two Brea Olinda Unified School District (BOUSD) students earning the top two honors and one advancing to represent California at the national championship.

Held June 27 at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library, the California National Civics Bee Competition brought together the state's top student civic leaders to demonstrate their knowledge of government, civic engagement, and community leadership.

Leading the competition was Logan, a student of Falcon Academy, who earned First Place and will represent California at the National Civics Bee Championship in Washington, D.C., later this fall. Fellow Olinda Elementary student Aryan earned Second Place, while Deon of Newport Beach placed Third, completing an impressive sweep for the three students who advanced from the Yorba Linda Regional Competition in May

The students first qualified during the National Civics Bee Yorba Linda Regional Competition, hosted by the Yorba Linda Chamber of Commerce Foundation in partnership with the Yorba Linda Chamber of Commerce, the Richard Nixon Foundation, and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation.

The National Civics Bee encourages middle school students to deepen their understanding of American democracy, develop civic leadership skills, and identify ways they can make a positive impact in their communities.

BOUSD is incredibly proud of Logan and Aryan for representing both the District and the City of Brea with excellence on the state stage. Their dedication to civic learning, leadership, and service reflects the values we strive to cultivate in all BOUSD students.

Logan will advance to the National Civics Bee Championship, where he will represent California among the nation's top middle school civic leaders in Washington, D.C., this fall.

“Winning the California State Competition for The National Civics Bee has been one of the most rewarding and inspiring experiences of my life, allowing me to deepen my passion for civic education, government, and empowering future leaders,” said Logan. “I’m so thankful for this opportunity and am deeply humbled to represent California at the National Civics Bee!”
