The Brea Olinda Unified School District (BOUSD) Board of Education has approved the appointment of two new assistant principals at Brea Olinda High School (BOHS). Nicole Bear, Ed.D. and Brandon Frank, Ed.D., will join the Wildcats leadership team beginning with the 2026-27 school year. 

"Brandon and Nicole are exceptional leaders who bring a shared commitment to student success, instructional excellence, and collaborative leadership. Together, they offer more than 30 years of combined experience in public education and a passion for building positive school cultures where students and staff can thrive. We are excited to welcome them to the BOHS administrative team,” said Superintendent Brinda Leon.

About Nicole Bear, Ed.D.

Throughout her 15 years in education, Nicole Bear, Ed.D. has served in a variety of educational leadership roles, including assistant principal, secondary school dean, and English Language Arts Department co-chair. She has developed a reputation for fostering positive school culture, supporting high-quality instruction, and building strong relationships with students, staff, and families.

Bear also brings significant experience supporting the academic, social-emotional, and behavioral needs of secondary students. She has overseen student counseling systems, master scheduling, credit recovery programs, Section 504 Plan coordination, Student Attendance Review Team (SART) processes, and collaborated closely with Special Education teams to ensure students receive the support needed to graduate successfully.

Bear holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Berkeley, and a master’s degree and doctorate in Education from California State University, Long Beach.

About Brandon Frank, Ed.D.

Bringing 20 years of experience in public education, Brandon Frank, Ed.D. has served students across every grade level—from transitional kindergarten through high school—as a teacher, AVID coordinator, assistant principal, athletic coach, and elementary school principal. This diverse background has provided him with a comprehensive understanding of the K-12 educational experience and the importance of creating seamless academic and social-emotional supports that prepare students for long-term success.

Throughout his career, Frank has demonstrated a commitment to instructional leadership, student-centered decision-making, and positive school culture. As an elementary school principal and secondary assistant principal, he has led school operations, staff development, student support systems, and restorative practices while building strong partnerships with families and the community.

Frank earned a Bachelor of Arts in English and Political Science, a Master of Science in Education, and a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership from California State University, Fullerton.

BOUSD looks forward to welcoming Dr. Bear and Dr. Frank to the official start of the 2026-27 school year!
