Update on BOHS Access, Athletic Upgrades and Aquatic Complex Project
On Sept. 22, more than a dozen contractors participated in a job walk for the BOHS Access, Athletic Upgrades, and Aquatic Complex project- another important investment funded partially through Measure H.

The project brings together two coordinated components designed to enhance accessibility, athletics and aquatic facilities across the BOHS campus.
Access & Athletic Upgrades will include accessible path-of-travel improvements, upgrades to the track and field, athletic lighting, scoreboard, stadium seating and bleachers, coach building and portable restrooms, tennis courts, parking areas and related athletic facilities.
Aquatic Complex Improvements will include modernization of the existing pool facilities, construction of a new 40-meter by 25-yard competition pool, replacement of pool support buildings, new pool equipment and supporting systems, pool deck and drainage improvements, accessible paths of travel and related site improvements.
While the two components will have separate construction schedules, the work will be coordinated with the goal of completing both components concurrently.
The District is using a Lease-Leaseback (LLB) procurement process to select a qualified contractor through a qualifications- and proposal-based process. The selected contractor will provide preconstruction services before moving into construction following approval of the project’s Guaranteed Maximum Price.
This project represents another significant investment in the BOHS campus — creating more accessible, modern and functional spaces for students, athletes, coaches and the broader BOUSD community.

👷🚧 Measure H News: The Falcon Academy of Science and Technology Multipurpose Building and Kitchen Project reached an important milestone this week, as the District hosted a mandatory contractor conference and site visit for 12 prequalified general contractors.
District representatives along with the project's architect, Studio Plus, met with contractors at Falcon Academy to review the proposed location of the new facility, familiarize contractors with existing campus and site conditions, and provide an overview of the next steps in the District's contractor selection process.
The strong participation reflects significant contractor interest in the project and provides the District with a competitive pool of qualified firms as the project moves into the proposal and evaluation phase.
The District is utilizing a competitive Request for Qualifications and Proposals, RFQ/RFP No. 26-0002, to select a Lease-Leaseback contractor based on the best-value evaluation process established in the solicitation. Contractor questions are due through PlanetBids by Aug. 17 at 12 p.m.
Contractor proposals are due August 24, 2026 at 12 p.m. The District will then proceed with its formal evaluation and selection process.
The new facility will provide Falcon Academy students, staff, and the school community with an enhanced multipurpose space and food-service facility, representing an important investment in the campus and the District's commitment to modernizing learning environments through Measure H.

We're proud to celebrate Logan T of Falcon Academy, who captured 1st Place at the California National Civics Bee Competition and will represent California at the National Civics Bee Championship in Washington, D.C., this fall!
A huge congratulations also goes to Aryan G of Olinda Elementary, who earned 2nd Place, as the two Brea students helped lead an impressive sweep of the top honors at the state competition held June 27 at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library.
